DSEI UK 2027 — ExCeL London Delegation & Roadshow Transport

DSEI UK 2027 runs 7–10 September 2027 at ExCeL London. It is the largest event in the UK defence and security calendar — 45,000+ attendees, 1,600+ exhibitors and 3,300+ global VIPs and delegations from more than 90 countries. A great many of those delegations base themselves in Hampshire and the Thames Valley and travel in daily, which is a Farnborough-to-Docklands roadshow, not a London taxi job.

About DSEI UK 2027

DSEI is where national delegations, primes and supply chain meet in one building for four days. The density of senior visitors is the point — 460+ starred officers and 3,300+ VIPs and delegations — and it is also the transport problem, because the arrival window into Royal Victoria Dock is narrow and heavily managed. Getting a party to the right door at the right minute is worth more than shaving miles off a route.

What makes ExCeL different from any other venue

• All drop-offs and pick-ups use the west taxi rank, E16 1XL. That is the only sanctioned point — a driver who does not know this will circle.
• Car park access is from the A13 only. There is no access from Western Gateway or Seagull Lane. The working route is Blackwall to the A13, then the A112 and Tollgate Road southbound.
• The Silvertown Tunnel has been tolled since 7 April 2025, which changes both cost and the fastest approach depending on time of day.
• Coaches and minibuses must be pre-booked — turning up on the day is not an option.
• Engines off, no idling. There is a nursery and there are residences beside the venue, and it is enforced.
• Height limit is 1.9 m, with limited over-height provision to 2.8 m — relevant if you are moving kit as well as people.

The Hampshire-to-Docklands run

From Farnborough, Fleet, Camberley or Guildford, the realistic door-to-door to Royal Victoria Dock is a cross-London movement that behaves completely differently at 06:30 than it does at 08:00. For a four-day programme we build a departure ladder rather than a single time: principals out early, exhibition staff behind them, and a held vehicle in Docklands for the mid-day movements. Evening receptions in central London on the way home are normal for DSEI week and are planned in from the start, not improvised.

How roadshow and delegation pricing works

Multi-day roadshow work is quoted as a package of vehicle-days, not by the mile. You tell us the party sizes, the base hotel, the arrival window at ExCeL and the return pattern; we return one inclusive figure per vehicle per day, in writing, before the first movement. Farnborough Taxi Cabs is not VAT registered, so the written figure is the final figure. For a four-day programme with multiple parties, appointing one specialist provider for the whole week is materially easier than booking day by day.

Booking advice for DSEI week

• Lock vehicles early. September in London is one of the tightest weeks of the year for executive supply.
• Decide the daily departure time from Hampshire before you book hotels — 30 minutes earlier can save an hour on the road.
• Give us the exact ExCeL entrance your stand or meeting sits nearest, and we will brief the west rank meeting point around it.
• Flag any Blue Badge requirement in advance; misuse carries an £80 penalty at the venue and the correct bays need arranging.
• For parties above seven, an executive Sprinter is usually better than two cars in London traffic.
